Платформа Blio разработана известным футуристом и изобретателем Рэем Курцвейлом (Ray Kurzweil) и будет запущена 7 января на выставке Consumer Electronics Show в Лас-Вегасе.

Adobe today announced that more than 100 publishers, book retailers and libraries have adopted Adobe Content Server 4 software to protect PDF and EPUB eBook content and support the distribution to thousands of retail, libraries and other channels across the globe. In addition, nearly 20 device manufacturers have licensed the Adobe Reader Mobile software development kit (SDK) to enable PDF and EPUB support on dedicated reading devices. This furthers industry efforts to accelerate eBook standardization on the open EPUB eBook format, enabling companies to create, deliver and monetize eBook content on smartphones and devices using Adobe’s eBook platform.

Sony Reader Store goes 100% EPUB on Friday – Engadget
Listen up Sony Reader owners: you’ve got three days to change your ways. On December 11th, the eBook Store from Sony will be renamed the Reader Store with a new URL to prove it. In addition to a new store layout, the change also extends the open EPUB format to Sony’s entire inventory of eBooks. In fact, any new electronic books will only be available in EPUB which helps explain the motivation for Sony’s PRS-500 trade-in program.

По его словам, в России планируется развивать такое направление, как внедрение в библиотеках так называемых “ридеров” - электронных книг. Такие ридеры, пояснил министр, содержат до 2 тыс. произведений, и их можно читать практически как книгу, перелистывая электронные страницы.
Авдеев отметил, что экономически ридеры выгоднее, чем книга притом, что книга стоит 200 рублей, а ридер - около 1,5 тыс.

Just days after Travellerspoint revealed its simplistic, on-demand email city and country guides, social and travel publishing giant Time Out unveils its own take on the on-the-go guides.
The publisher’s popular city guides are in the process of being formatted for eReaders, Blackberry, PDA and web and will available for download from its own store and other online retailers this month.
